Syllan awoke in the middle of the desert. He was lying face down in the sand, his sword lying next to him like a piece of scrap metal, all the power that it used to posses gone. He still could not believe he lost the battle to the Demon king. He felt like it was still all just a bad dream, like it all just never happened...but it had. His current position was proof of that. He wondered how long he had been out. It could not have been so long ago, as the sun had not burned his flesh just yet. This alone was good news, but he wondered how much longer he could stand the heat and thirst without dying. A chill ran down his spine. Death. He was not afraid of dying, only of being back in the demon kings clutches. No, he could not let that happen. He slowly rose to his feet, and picked up his sword. Then he noticed them. Four skeletons had crowded around him.
The demon king. He was testing how well Syllan could do without the power of thousands of souls in his sword. He fell into his combat stance, his sword on his back, and prepared to do battle. The skeletons suddenly stepped forward at once, unafraid. He jumped over the head of one and brought his sword straight down, shattering the bone and sending shards and splinters all over the place. He then turned and cut off the head of another and then cut anther in half, but to his surprise the headless one just kept on coming, and the one he had split had forgotten its legs and was crawling towards him with an undead determination. He brought the sword down on the half skeleton, shattering its skull. As he was doing it the other two skeletons and the cyclops moved forward and attempted to attack him at once. Realizing that he was too late to move fast enough to dodge all of the attacks, he suddenly acted on instinct and released a dark spell he did not know he could still use. The effects were not as catastrophic as they were at his full power, but the dark flux attack was enough to send one skeleton back to the underworld, leaving only the headless one and the cyclops. He jumped out of the way of the cyclop's axe as it crashed down next to him and took a glancing blow to his side from the sword of the skeleton. It wounded him, but it would not kill him. He jumped back and used the flux once more to kill the skeleton, leaving only the cyclops to take care of. The cyclops brought the axe around and attempted to backhand Syllan with it, but Syllan jumped up and out of the way and onto the swinging axe. Rapidly sprinting up the arm of the cyclops, he drove Discord's blade right up to the hilt, into the cyclops' eye. He withdrew the sword and jumped back down to the ground as the great beast fell, now a gaping hole in its head and brain. He barely avoided being landed on, but was hit by the head and pinned to the ground by it. He heard the demon kings laughter as he attempted to pull himself out. It took a while, but eventually he succeeded. He realized he was now more thirsty and tired than ever before.
"This is going to be a long life time."
